Jan McCafferty studied BA Hons in Graphic Design and an MA in Illustration at Central England University, Birmingham, graduating in 1994.
She worked for Usborne Publishing as a graphic designer for five years, before deciding to travel the world for six months in 1999. She now lives with her teacher-husband Steve and daughter Lara in Manchester. Recently she invested in a padlock for her studio door to stop tiny hands 'helping' to rearrange her paints.
Jan works digitally and in more traditional inks and watercolours. Recent picture books projects include Pirate Small in Big Trouble for Oxford University Press and a series of twelve Oliver Moon books for Usborne Publishing.
Jan loves to collect picture books and when she has more free time she hopes to continue her interests in yoga and karate, but until then she will doodle and munch on chocolate!
